Why we chose the name Julia Skye Simon.
Choosing a name carries incredible weight. It is something our daughter will carry with her for her entire life, so it was not a decision we took lightly.
One thing we agreed on easily was that we wanted to honor two people who hold tremendous importance in our lives, Jay and Selma Leiber. We chose to use Papapa’s and Mamama’s initials as a tribute to the lasting impact they have had on both of us.
Vaughn’s grandparents were like second parents to him growing up. When Courtney became part of the family, they welcomed her with so much enthusiasm and love that she truly felt adopted as one of their own.
Although Papapa is no longer with us, we remain incredibly blessed to still have Mamama in our lives. By choosing these names, we are able to carry a piece of both of them forward and ensure that Papapa and Mamama will always be a part of our lives and Julia’s life.
Unwavering support and unconditional love are at the heart of who Jay and Selma are, and we feel incredibly blessed to have been loved by them. We hope to love and support our baby girl with the same devotion that Papapa and Mamama have always shown us.
